SIOUX LOOKOUT – The Sioux Lookout Bombers are a win away from raising the Bill Salonen Cup for the first time in the franchise’s short two-year history.
Kaden Veller and Trever Sanderson scored second-period goals on Saturday night to erase a 2-1 deficit, and the Bombers went on to take Game 3 in the best-of-seven Superior International Junior Hockey League championship 4-2.
Dayvan Bull, who opened the scoring at 5:47, and Jonah Smith, into the empty net with 1:31 to go in regulation, also scored for the home side.
Jett Mintenko, with his fifth of the playoffs, and Max Wright, who opened the scoring 2:17 into the contest, scored for Kam River.
Jack Osmond made 25 saves to earn the win between the pipes for Sioux Lookout. Ashton Sadauskas made 24 saves for Kam River, the defending SIJHL champions.
Sioux Lookout leads the series 3-0 and can close out the final on Sunday evening on home ice.
