With deflated tires, a driver continued fleeing police until they caused a collision with another passenger vehicle on May 15, 2024, in Dryden.

HODGSON TOWNSHIP — A driver is facing multiple charges after fleeing police and getting into a collision in Hodgson Township.

OPP was doing traffic enforcement along Highway 17 on Thursday evening, and the patrol car's automated licence plate recognition picked up a stolen car during that time.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled.

Police laid out a tire deflation device on Highway 17, and the vehicle in question was successfully targeted. However, the driver kept going at a high rate of speed through the city of Dryden.

Shortly after having its tires deflated, the stolen vehicle crashed into another passenger vehicle, and the suspect then tried to run on foot from the police.

Police found the suspect shortly after and arrested them.

A 49-year-old Montreal man has been charged with multiple offences, including assaulting an officer with a weapon and fleeing police.

OPP reported there were no serious injuries as a result of the collision.
