THUNDER BAY — Aysanabee, an Oji-Cree singer-songwriter from Northwestern Ontario, has been nominated for a Juno Award.

The member of the Sandy Lake First Nation was raised in the Kaministiquia area outside Thunder Bay.

He's nominated for an award for contemporary Indigenous artist or group of the year for his acclaimed debut album Watin.

In December, Aysanabee was a featured performer on the CP Holiday Train that toured Northwestern Ontario.

He also participated in the Wake the Giant Music Festival in Thunder Bay last September.
