Atikokan to hold candidate and third-party advertisers information session

The Township of Atikokan wants to help candidates interested in running in the Municipal election. It is hosting a virtual information session that will cover many relevant topics.

ATIKOKAN — With candidates putting their names forward to run in this year’s municipal election and with townships concerned that third-party advertisers may not be aware of all the rules and regulations, the Township of Atikokan in partnership with Ministry of Municipal Affairs is hosting an information session.

The virtual session is scheduled for April 26, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. and will focus on providing information about several relevant topics.

Pre-registration is required by Monday, April 25. 2022, with a few pre-registration options being offered.

Potential candidates and third-party advertisers can register by calling Leah Fraser, Deputy Clerk/Deputy Running officer at 597-1234 ext. 224; or they can email the Deputy Clerk at [email protected]

Topics that evening will include:

  • What’s it like to be a Mayor or Member of Council
  • Council and Staff Responsibilities
  • Financial Filing
  • Candidate rules and regulations
  • Third Party Advertisers

The evening will offer a “question and answer” period as well.
