Atikokan still looking for crossing guards

After two months into the new school year, Hawthorne Road crosswalk has no crossing guard.

ATIKOKAN — It has been two months since the start of the school year and Hawthorne Road still has no crossing guard.

The Town of Atikokan is advising residents to use caution while driving the designated school areas along Hawthorne Road.  

Jason Young, Atikokan’s chief administrative officer, also said that “the local OPP are making a point to be more visible before and after school in these areas.”

The town has also put up new pedestrian crossing signs to ensure that the crossing walk are visible to traffic.

If you are interested in becoming the school crossing guard, Young said that a it is a paid position.
