Arson charge laid after Rainy River house fire

Two people escaped a fire that destroyed a residence

RAINY RIVER — Ontario Provincial Police charged a local resident with arson having disregard for human life. This follows a fire in Rainy River on Oct. 3.

The fire, which was reported at about 10:45 pm Thursday, destroyed a two-storey residence.

Two people who were inside the home at the time were able to escape.

OPP commenced an investigation, and subsequently arrested a 30-year-old woman from Rainy River.

She was held in custody pending a court appearance in Fort Frances.
