Arrest made in hostel drug trafficking investigation

A 46-year-old Fort Severn First Nation resident faces multiple charges following their arrest.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – A tip from the public led to a drug trafficking arrest in Sioux Lookout.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Thursday night, said they received information that an individual was allegedly selling drugs a the Jerremiah McKay Kabayshewekamik Hostel.

The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illegal substances, including opioids, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Police also recovered Canadian currency and items associated with drug trafficking.

A 46-year-old Fort Severn First Nation resident has been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance, other drugs, one count of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused was held for bail and remanded into the Kenora District Jail, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
