NIPIGON — Police say officers spotted an aggressive driver during a general patrol in Nipigon Monday night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer was patrolling Highway 11/17 near Nipigon and spotted a vehicle leaving a business.
As reported by OPP, the driver was witnessed spinning their tires and accelerating heavily, and the vehicle was stopped very shortly after.
After conducting their investigation, the officer administered a roadside test with an approved screening device to test if the driver had alcohol in their system.
As a result of the failed test, a 49-year-old Nipigon resident was arrested and charged with two counts of driving while impaired.
Their driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon at a future date.
