FORT FRANCES – A Fort Frances man faces weapons charges after police were called to a residence in the Northwestern Ontario community.
Police say on July 12, just before 7 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police responded to a domestic dispute call, where they located the subject male.
Upon approaching the man, he allegedly pulled what appeared to be a firearm and pointed it at the officers. Police were able to de-escalate the man and he was arrested without incident and injury.
Further investigation indicated the accused had allegedly assaulted to individuals within the residence prior to police arriving on scene.
The 28-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, resisting a peace officer, two counts of assault, assaulting a peace officer with an imitation weapoin, assault, choke suffocate or strangle, uttering threat to cause bodily harm and mischief.
The accused in being held in custody and was schedule appear in court in Thunder Bay on Sunday.
