DRYDEN – Congratulations are on order to Patricia Magiskan for winning the $46,825 grand prize in the DRHC’s 50/50 lottery.
Over the DRHC Facebook page, staffer Chuck Schmitt shared Magiskan’s heart-warm gratitude before sending Schmitt into tears.
“This is a must-see call with our July winner. People like Patricia are what lotteries for health care are all about. Congrats to Patricia Magiskan of TBay. #GrabKleenex,” captions for the post read.
In the video, Magiskan’s shocked voice rang through as shouted in disbelief before asking Schmitt to repeat himself.
“Today we are calling to inform you that you have won $46,825,” repeated Schmitt.
Magiskan was ecstatic. “Thank you!” she shouts into the phone before telling Schmitt that she was a cancer survivor three times over.
“I’ve always supported the hospital financially through raffles. I have so much gratitude for all the hospital staff: the oncologist, the nurses, the technicians, all the way down to the cleaning staff,” Magiskan said with a quiver of joy in her voice.
Schmitt was speechless. The only words to form from his mouth as he found back the tears was a soft “oh my god.”
“I’ve always walked with the best foot forward,” continued Magiskan. “And I am so honoured, so honoured. I have to share the news.”
The video ends with Schmitt telling Magiskan that “this was one of the nicest calls I’ve made in my life” before thanking Magiskan.
The DRHC 50/50 lottery helps subsidize the cost of new diagnostic equipment for patient care.
