The Canadians, who have conceded a tournament-low one goal through three games, go into Thursday trailing Sweden, which at 4-0-0 has 12 points. Austria enters the day in sixth place, four points behind fourth-place Latvia. The top four teams in the group advance to the quarterfinals.

Canada comes off a 5-0 blanking of France on Tuesday as Jordan Binnington (St. Louis Blues) needed only 15 saves to record the shutout. Bo Horvat (New York Islanders) scored twice while Will Cuylle (New York Rangers), captain Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Brandon Montour (Seattle Kraken) also found the net. Horvat leads the squad with four goals in the tournament and his five points share the top spot on the roster with Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche) and Travis Konecny (Philadelphia Flyers). Canada’s three goalies have all played and have combined to stop 42 of the 43 shots they’ve faced.
