The start of July is bringing hot weather across most of Northwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued an extreme heat warning for a wide swath of the region, with daytime high temperatures expected to approach or exceed 30 C.
The overnight low temperatures are expected to remain in the mid to high teens.
Environment Canada cautioned that extreme heat affects everyone, and that hot and humid air can cause deteriorated air quality.
Cooler temperatures are expected beginning Monday night.
As well, severe thunderstorm watches are in effect for the Ignace and Atikokan areas, with Environment Canada warning of wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour and potential for large hail. That storm is expected late Monday afternoon and into the evening.
