Range of Pay: Group 6 - $27.20 to 31.98 per hour

Parks and Recreation is seeking passionate and certified Yoga Instructors to lead classes at various locations throughout the city. This opportunity is part of a broader recruitment pool open to instructors across a range of wellness and fitness programs.
Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of the Recreation Co-ordinator.
1. Design a class format that encourages safety and class participation and to deliver the program (e.g. yoga etc.).
2. Perform proper techniques as to not cause injury or harm to any pupil in the class.
3. Instruct at the appropriate level for each class.
4. Be attentive and alert to the regards of all pupils in the class.
5. Provide supervision and guidance to Leisure Instructors assisting with class delivery as required.
6. Assist in the cleaning and general maintenance of the hall and ensure that equipment is maintained and properly set up.
7. Responsible for being aware of the recreation facility policies.
8. Inform Immediate Supervisor of any misconduct by a pupil in the class.
9. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
10. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
• Two and one-half (2½) up to and including five (5) years of related fitness instruction experience.
• Basic CPR and Basic First Aid.
• For Yoga Instructor – YMCA Fitness Instructors Certificate or Fitness Ontario Leadership Program or equivalent certification plus Specialty Course specific to program. Body Composition certification considered an asset.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrate participation in continuing education courses and workshops.
• Demonstrate commitment to the philosophy and goals of CGS’s fitness programs.
• Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
• French verbal skills an asset.
• Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
• Provide at own cost, a Criminal Records Check.
• May require the use of a personal or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
